Parent Counseling+Strategies

I offer families a framework for successful parenting. In weekly coaching sessions, I will teach you how to build a relational foundation to support family connection, as well as direct skills for limit setting and emotional regulation.

My framework for parenting organizes around empathy and boundaries.

By empathy, I mean that children need to experience their caregivers as present and attentive-- they need to believe that their caregivers understand how they feel, and trust that how they feel matters.

By boundaries, I mean that children need their caregivers to place limits on their behavior, to teach them in appropriate ways to navigate the social world, and to give perspective on their emotions and responses.

The resolution to many struggles of child rearing--from discipline problems, to a child’s low self esteem, to anxiety, to frequent meltdowns--can often be as simple as (1) honing your skills in delivering empathy and boundaries and (2) adjusting the balance between empathy and boundaries in your parent-child relationship.
