My approach to therapy seeks to align an individual's feelings, values, and actions. Our emotions motivate our behavior, and when we want to change but seemingly can't, we're often working against our emotional selves. Clients work with me to tap the right motivation to meet their goals.
Our work together will be informed by the best available research, your individual goals and circumstances, and my best professional judgment. Although a diagnosis can sometimes be a helpful way to think about an issue, I believe strongly in treating the person, not a symptom or condition. My training in Gestalt therapy shapes how I organize our work and our weekly sessions.

EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND
I earned a Master of Science in Counseling at Southern Methodist University and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies at Austin Seminary. My graduate studies included training in Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), as well as intensive study in the PLISSIT model of sex therapy. Additionally, I completed a four year clinical fellowship in Gestalt therapy—a psychotherapy grounded in mindfulness and oriented towards developing the client’s emotional intelligence. I have additional training in the psychodynamic model Control-Mastery Theory, as well as Ericksonian Therapy.
Prior to beginning my career as a therapist, I worked for more than a decade in public relations and advertising, serving clients in technology, aviation, education, and public affairs. I earned an undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin.
